This page provides a description of the aims and objectives of the RiskCede data applications. It demonstrates the key concepts and provides the reasoning behind each of them.

Objective

Each data application has a different objective or purpose. But most applications are made up of a combination of the following functions.

  • Data: All applications are data driven and data forms the center of each app. In some cases data are already available and have to be combined into a single repository to be queried and reported on. In other cases no data is available and the application allows users to capture data or receive data from outside sources. In all cases the data has to be managed and monitored with automated tasks to report the status of the data source to the front end users.

  • Analytics: In most cases the core functionality is to analyse the data to find insights from it. Techniques ranging from graphical analysis to machine learning are used to identify hidden patterns and trends and to predict future values.

  • Visualisation: Once analysis is done the next key step is to present the results to the reader in a way that will allow them to act upon the results.

  • Processes: And in some cases these actions can become automated tasks. The applications can manage these automated tasks by starting and stopping them while reporting to the front end user what is happening. Detailed analysis of these processes identifies successful actions and areas that can be improved.


Data

Most clients already have one or more source of data available. This data is combined in one single repository for all analysis and process flow.

Additional data can be gather through rest API calls or completely new data can be generated, through surveys or dedicated applications, like the Interview application.

QR codes are used to gather data together with meta data like location, time, etc.

Analytics

Various methods (from rule based models to machine learning) are used to extract knowledge from the data.

Visualisations

A visual representation and presentation of the data to facilitate the understanding thereof and to inspire and motivate the audience to embark on a course of action.

Processes

Processes can be automated and triggered based on specific results, eg if the number of vehicles within a 10km radius of each other is more than 20 send out notifications to insurers and brokers.

These automated processes must be monitored and reported to front end users.

But it can also be mined to find bottlenecks and improvements.

Domain knowledge

RiskCede has experience in healthcare, logistics, surveys, fraud identification, staff assessment and training and admin applications.

Although domain knowledge is an advantage, data applications can be applied to any field. The following are key capabilities for any domain.

Data tagged with location information can be futher mined for practical insights eg distance to care, geofences and many more.

Machine learning can be applied even in cases where no results are available to train models, eg segmentation and association.

Using statistical models, expected values can be calculated, eg claim amounts. Actual experience can then be compared to excpeted values to identify anomalies.

Variables change over time. Sometimes time series can be used to predict future values and other times to confirm the impact of interventions.

This is the most important step as it is the transfer of the findings from all the above steps to the consumer of the information.
